DESCRIPTION

The French & Italian Department at the University of Arizona is delighted to organize this conference to which all MA and doctoral students in French are invited to participate so that they may have the opportunity to

  • give a talk following the traditional format of 20 minutes to present plus 10 minutes for questions and comments, in French or in English
  • present work in progress in a round-table format that will allow for constructive feedback and a stimulating interaction (15 minutes to present + 15 minutes for feedback), in French or in English
  • abstract submissions for both formats cannot exceed 300 words
  • sign up for a fun and instructive research workshop on two different topics (see Workshops below)
  • attend two plenaries by renowned researchers on two different topics
  • meet other students and faculty who are warmly invited to attend as well
  • watch a Francophone film on February 23 

STRANDS

This conference mirrors our MA programmes. We will thus be delighted to receive abstracts addressing one or more of the following strands:

  • theoretical and applied linguistics
  • first, second language acquisition
  • teaching French as a second/foreign language
  • digital technologies and pedagogy
  • French and Francophone literature, culture and civilization
  • Francophone cinema
  • Women's studies, queer studies and sexuality

Arizona Working Papers in French & Italian

The participants who will have given a talk (traditional talk or round-table presentation) will be invited to submit a paper to our online Arizona Working Papers in French & Italian.

Plenaries

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Denis Jamet from the Université de Lyon and Dr. Lydie Moudelino from the University of Southern California.

Workshops

Participants will be able to sign up for two different workshops::

IMPORTANT DEADLINES

Please note the following important deadlines:

  • December 4, 2017: deadline to submit an abstract for a paper or a round-table
  • December 20,2017: notification of acceptance or rejection
  • December 20, 2017-February 1, 2018: registration ($35 for students, $75 for faculty)
  • February 1 2018: end of registration starts
